SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Another prophet is in the forefront today.
Jeremiah is speaking a tough word to those shepherds
who were serving themselves. Jesus comes as the
Good Shepherd for He comes to serve others and He
has compassion on the abandoned flock. The Lord
formed the Apostles and sent them out to preach. Now
the Apostles are returning to report on their success.
Jesus invites even the new shepherds to an out of the
way place in order that He might renew them. Jesus
taught both the sheep and the shepherds because He
brought refreshing words of truth and compassion.
